College=Growth and Opportunity?

Last night I found myself in the company of some of my roommates friends, they asked me where I was from and what brought me to San Francisco. I told them I was working at a startup and their replies were:

“Oh you just decided to come out here and do that after college?”

“Hey good for you, I didn’t have much direction after graduation.”

“…So was this something you majored in?”

It really is funny (and kinda sad) how many young people think that college is just what everyone should be doing during their early adult years.

Here’s the kicker: one out of the 5 people there who went to college was unemployed and another was losing a lot of touch with the needs in his workplace because he stopped growing and learning new programming languages. But college set them up for success, right?

It’s conversations like this that further solidify my conviction that I made the best choice when I decided to do Praxis.
