After the last meeting with all the full-on N.O.V.A. members, we started exploring even more ideas in the way of crowdfunding or selling merch to get ever closer to our goal of having a 200+ acre field within an hour and a half from Grand Rapids. The land is relatively cheap within those parameters, usually around $300,000, so we want to start making progress towards a downpayment on something like that.
We are beginning to amass more resources for printing shirts, stickers, and other merch. So making a secondary income from that would be really helpful for making some extra ground in assets.
We want to make a Patreon or GoFundMe, this form of sourcing would help us to gauge the interest of the community and how we should move going forward. Ultimately, this business is very dependent on the player base that actually invests into the gear and games. If we can build enough interest and get real engagement from the players, then we can step into our grander goals. A lot of the decisions we make can only be fueled by those who wish to continue the hobby as a whole.
Our hope is that people will understand the how serious we are, and be inspired to learn more about the hobby. At the end of the day, our purpose is to educate people about the hobby and grow the numbers of those invested in it.
Having 200+ acres of land would allow us to do pretty much any game type, MILSIM, and scenario anyone could think of. We believe we could mold a plot of that proportion into the best field in Michigan. It would not be easy, and it would take some time, but to have something of that proportion of our own would be monumental. Additionally, if we could work out a way to hire more people to run that field, we could operate on a national scale, working with larger event hosts, collaborating with sponsors, and making more valuable connections. We are not content with just being the best field in Michigan, we want to be one of the best teams to work within the United States.
