Going through Praxis, working for an entrepreneur, and managing my own business are all important things that are going on in my life at the same time. There are so many things to hash out and so many unknown outcomes in all of those. The two biggest unknowns in my life that will affect me the most are 1. Where I will end up with my praxis apprenticeship and 2. How long I will be there.
I find freedom in this because it does not limit me to one objective or one area. I only have to focus on working harder to become the best version of myself. Once I get paired with a business partner (BP), then I can start bringing my scope down to better concentrate on whichever task is at hand. This doesn’t mean that I won’t focus on what makes me marketable until I get hired. This just means that I have the freedom to be interested and talk about in a great number of things that could all be perceived as valuable to a BP.
Some people know exactly what they want and can gun for that and nail their apprenticeships. But I love the variety and exploration elements of all these different businesses structures. On the other hand, the weight of these unknowns could drive them crazy, and it almost got to me for a while because I thought I get some extremely clear career paths and locations. Now I am beginning to settle into the workflow of the “school” portion of Praxis, I find some comfort in the unknown of everything else. The only time I get worried about the next big step in life is when a friend or family member tries to ask me and I have no hard information to share with them. I generally just tell them there are a few popular states I could end up in, and that I will keep the updates coming as soon as I know.
