I'm Moving to California!
Hold on…let’s rewind, how did this happen? I figured going through Praxis would inevitably lead to some sort of big move, but not so soon. I didn’t think I’d be placed at a BP until May or June, but when it came time to start the placement process everything happened so fast (and will most likely continue as such). I was quickly partnered with a BP (Yoshi), all by my own choice, and with much deliberation with my family.
With a quick placement comes a quick move in my case, I need to report to work in San Francisco California on April 16th. Which is crazy when you account for factors like the fact that I’ve never been away from home for longer than two weeks, I accepted this apprenticeship offer with little clue how I was going to make the move happen in just over a month, and I have never even visited an environment like the one I am now propelling myself into.
There is no question that this is the biggest step I have ever taken in my life so far. I have so many questions that can only be answered by simply going and doing.
“Yes”, Is almost always the harder answer, yes opens the door to a totally diverse train of thought. Whereas, “No”, shuts down creative thought and numbs one’s sense of adventure.
I want to launch myself into this opportunity at full force, no punches pulled. I choose right now to put away my doubts and my fear of the unknown, I choose to consume the unknown and find new passions that can be turned into profit. I want to document this process as much as I can to keep everyone in the loop, but I have little idea what kind of workload I will have.
I just want to say thank you to all the Praxis staff members who make this whole process possible, and a huge thank you to my family and friends who have supported me in any way throughout.
I’m going to miss everyone back home in Michigan and no matter what, Grand Rapids will always have a special place in my heart.
